The role of Gandhi in the indian independence movement

The independance movement of india was a series of revolutions that began in 1857, but obatained the most important point under the mand of Mahatma Gandhi.Gandhi's ideas and strategies of non-violent civil disobedience initially appeared impractical to some Indians and Congressmen. In Gandhi's own words, "civil disobedience is civil breach of unmoral statutory enactments." It had to be carried out non-violently by withdrawing cooperation with the corrupt state. Gandhi's ability to inspire millions of common people became clear when he used satyagraha during the anti-Rowlatt Act protests in Punjab.

I think it was the basis of this movement, this ideology produced a nationalist feeling among the indian people who start to join the movement thanks of the influence of this man.
